Welcome

SCBA is a group of autonomous (self-governing) congregations, cooperating together as Southern Baptist Churches here in South Central Pennsylvania. Our 28 churches and 38 pastors serve Berks, Dauphin, Lancaster, Lebanon, Northumberland and Schuykill counties.  On any given weekend you will find us meeting in traditional buildings, store fronts, and in a variety of locations. You will hear a variety of languages and experience every style of worship.

Our purpose is to help strengthen churches, assist in starting new churches and cooperate with others to grow the Kingdom of God.

Our vision is to...

Equip churches to fulfill their God-given purpose,

Engage churches in starting healthy church plants,

Encourage churches through regular times of fellowship, and

Enable churches to cooperate in missions and ministry throughout the world.

If I can personally assist you in anyway please contact me.  Thanks for visiting!

Pastor Ben

Announcements

  • Pastor Jim King at Home with the Lord, July 13, 2018

Updated 07/18/18: The memorial service for Pastor Jim King will be held on Monday, July 23, 2018 at 10:30am at Bethel Baptist Church, 532 Lebanon Road, Manheim, PA. All SCBA churches are encouraged to attend.

On Friday afternoon, Pastor Jim went home to be with the Lord after a valiant struggle with brain and lung cancers. Jim served as the Pastor at Silver Spring Baptist Church, Columbia, and finished the race as Interim Pastor at Berks Bible Church, Shillington/Reading. He passed away as his wife, Arlene, and family had gathered around the bedside at Lancaster General Hospital (LGH).

Currently a member at Bethel Baptist in Manheim, Jim's memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family in the near future and probably at Bethel. Pastor Jim Luck, Jim King's pastor, indicated there will be no formal funeral but instead cremation and a memorial service.

Please remember to pray for Arlene and the family at this time of grieving. Also remember the congregations Pastor King served, including Berks Bible Church grieving the loss of a second pastor to cancer in a year. (Pastor Tim Kraynak went home to be with the Lord September 2017.)

Personally, Jim was an important ministry colleague and friend. Much of his guidance pointed me toward my current role as DOM in our association back in 2013 when he served on the Association Council, the immediate small group to whom the DOM reports and gains counsel in leading SCBA. We have talked and prayed regularly since I first met him back in 2005, and I will miss him dearly.

I visited him at LGH about three weeks ago, the first day he was out of bed since he had been admitted. He talked and joked as usual, although he confided to me his illness was dire. When I asked him how I should pray, he told me to pray for complete healing, because as long as he had breath, he'd keep serving the Lord and was looking forward to a return to ministry asap. That is the legacy of Jim King!
